Interface to PA amplifier via the FBSAR board

The AlphaCom can be interfaced to PA Amplifier via the FBSAR board. The amplifier is connected to an ASLT subsriber line via the FBSAR. The PA amplifier is called simply by dialling the directory number of the FBSAR. Group calls will be distributed via the PA amplifier if the FBSAR is member of the group. It is also possible to send entertainment or emergency audio from the audio program inputs out via the FBSAR. The audio program can be remotely activated from an intercom station.

Connections

Interfacing to Mobil Radio using the FBSAR board
  • The FBSAR board provides signals for audio out, and optional a contact closure for switching the amplifier on when audio is present on the output.
  • Towards the AlphaCom the FBSAR board is connected to a free ASLT subscriber port with a-, b-, c- and d-wires. A RCO signal is required for the relay operation. If the relay is used, the FBSAR must be powered by 24VDC from the exchange.
  • There are four jumpers on the FBSAR, S1 to S4, they should all be set in the "down" position (2-3).
  • A potentiometer on the FBSAR allows you to adjust the output signal level

AlphaPro programming

Set the FBSAR as 'Default Speaker' in a Simplex Conference

Default Speaker

The FBSAR must be set as a 'Default Speaker' in the conference. From the AlphaPro main menu select the button 'Simplex Conference', pick a free conference from the list box, and set the FBSAR as a 'Default Member'. Check the flag "Default Member is Default Speaker".

Event for operating the RCO

RCO Operation

The relay of the FBSAR is controlled by a RCO. The RCO is configured in the Event Handler. In the Users & Stations window, highlight the FBSAR in the listbox, and select the button Events. Press Insert to create an event with the following parameters (here RCO 1 is used as an example):

Event Owner: The FBSAR
Event type: 1 – Audio
Subtype: 64
When change to: ON or OFF
Action: RCO 1

Restrictions on Talkback (optional)

Restriction on talkback is controlled by the 'SX Conf. Talk Priority' settings

Each Simplex Conference has a 'Minimum Talk Priority' setting, with four levels available:

  • Low (default)
  • Medium
  • High
  • Alarm

Each station has a similar 'SX Conf. Talk Priority' setting (Users & Stations -> User Preferences tab) which must be higher than the setting of the conference, else the station can only listen to that conference.

All conferences are by default set to "'Minimum Talk Priority' = Low", and all stations are by default set to "Medium". I.e. all stations are allowed to do talkback.

Feature Description

The AlphaCom can distribute audio through separate loudspeakers for announcements and music distribution. This audio can be distributed via an FBSAR board. When loudspeakers without amplification are used, there must not be more than 20 such loudspeakers in one system. Such loudspeakers can only be connected via a FBSAR board.

Equipment List

One FBSAR can feed two speakers or two PA amplifiers from two subscriber lines.

Installation

  • Fasten the FBSAR board onto one of the mounting rails on the distribution field.
  • Supply the board with 24 V and 0 V (GND) from the Power Distribution Board or other source of power. Use a 1-pair ordinary installation cable for this purpose; the cable is not supplied with the board.
  • Run the wires according to Figure 1.1.
  • Check the switch settings.

Additional information

If you use the FBSAR for the connection no programming in necessary. We do however recommend that you program the physical connection for the PA system as a substation.
