One of the intercom devices in an IC-EDGE system is configured as the '''Edge Controller'''. The Edge Controller is acting as a server for the other intercom devices in the system. There can be only one Edge Controller in the installation.

All [[:category:Intercoms and Devices|native Zenitel IP devices]] can be used as an Edge Controller, with the following exceptions:

* The 1st generation of Zenitel IP devices based on the INCA chipset cannot be used as an Edge Controller. See [[:Category:INCA Stations|INCA Stations]]
* The ITSV-x video phones cannot be used as an Edge Controller.
* The 1st generation Turbine Video intercoms (TCIV-x) can be used as Edge Controller, but with a maximum of 5 stations/devices
