Permanent Audio Stream (PAS) is a feature in Zenitel Devices enabling transmission of RTP audio streams outside a call. Devices can be configured to permanently transmit up to two RTP streams (configurable). The RTP audio will be sent to a given IP address/port with configured codec.

Tools like VS-Recorder 2.0 can be used to record the actual RTP audio.

The configuration page for PAS is not available from the web interface of the device. To access the PAS Settings use the following url: <ipaddress>/goform/zForm_stream_config

Optional settings:

  • Configure the PAS to transmit RTP audio only during a call.
  • Configure the PAS to transmit RTP audio only when the call is initiated from a specific DAK key.

The PAS web page:

Permanent Audio configuration page (Firmware ver. 9)

  • Remote Domain: The IP address to which the RTP audio will be sent
  • Remote Port: The port number to which the RTP audio will be sent
  • Codec: Which audio codec to use. Options are: g711a (default), g711u, g722, L16x16D, L16x48D, PCM16, PCM48
  • Enable Condition:
    • RTP Stream Always Enabled: Audio stream is permanently transmitted (default)
    • RTP Stream Enabled During Call: Audio stream is transmitted only when there is an active call
    • RTP Stream Started With DAK Key: Audio stream is transmitted only when the call is initiated from a specific DAK key.
  • Volume: Can be adjusted from -20dB to + 20dB
Note icon Due to an issue in the firmware version 9.3.3.0 only one stream is supported in that specific version.

Direct Access Key Settings:
This setting enables an option to stream audio only when the call is initiated from a specific DAK key. Options are:

  • Do Not Record Call
  • Record Call Started With This Key

One can choose whether only the microphone signal is sent in the RTP stream, or both microphone and speaker signals should be sent.

Navigate to the RTSP and ONVIF menu (non-video devices) or Advanced Video (video devices). Under the "RTSP Settings" the Audio source setting defines what audio signal to send out on the RTP stream.

  • Mic before voice processing (AEC) - Both microphone and speaker signals are sent out to the RTP stream. The mixing is by acoustic coupling between loudspeaker and microphone.
  • Mic after voice processing + far end audio - Both microphone and speaker signals are sent out to the RTSP stream. The mixing of the loudspeaker and microphone signals is done electronically. (Option available as from version 9.0.3.0.)
  • Mic after voice processing (AEC) - Only microphone signal is sent out to the RTP stream.

Note that this is a shared setting between the RTSP stream and the PAS stream.
