TCIV+ Video Settings

To modify the video settings on the station models TCIV-2+, TCIV-3+, TCIV-5+ or TCIV-6+, log on to the station web interface and select:

  • ICX-AlphaCom mode: Advanced AlphaCom > Video Settings
  • IC-Edge mode: Edge Configuration > Video
  • SIP mode: SIP Configuration > Video


Video modes

The TCIV+ station has the following stream modes active at all times.

  • ONVIF - all video configurations are managed by external ONVIF Profile S compliant software - Video Management System. ONVIF media profiles can additionally be managed in Advanced video
  • RTSP H264 - RTSP stream in H.264 format will be available on URI rtsp://[username]:[password]@[IP address of the station]:554/media?encoder=H264. In addition, a URI with custom parameters can be generated in Advanced Video settings using the RTSP uri generator. URI with custom parameters generated with RTSP uri generator will overwrite the settings defined in the RTSP H264 Settings section. (Example URI with custom parameters: rtsp://[username]:[password]@[IP address of the station]:554/media?encoder=H264&resolution=1080P&fps=25&bitrate=1000)
    • RTSP H264 supports the following settings:
      • Resolution: 240P, 480P, 720P, 1080P
      • Frames Rate: up to 30 FPS
      • Bitrate: up to 7000kb/s
  • RTSP MJPEG - RTSP stream in MJPEG format will be available. The URI for this stream must be generated using the RTSP uri generator. Example: rtsp://10.9.7.138:554/media?encoder=MJPEG&resolution=480P&fps=10&quality=100
    • RTSP MJPEG supports the following settings:
      • Resolution: 240P, 480P
      • Frames Rate: up to 10FPS
  • SIP Call H.264 - enables video stream in H.264 format to be visible in Edge/SIP calls.
    SIP H.264 uses ephemeral ports in range 32768-60999
  • HTTP MJPG - video stream in MJPEG format is available on this url: http://[username]:[password]@[IP address of the station]/mjpg/video.mjpg. By default, HTTP MJPG uses port 80. If needed, port 8090 can be used, but the port must be opened in the firewall of the station and use the following URL http://[username]:[password]@[IP address of the station]:8090/mjpg/video.mjpg. HTTP MJPG has a predefined settings with resolution of 480P and frame rate of 15fps. This settings can not be changed.

  • Authentication is also required for HTTP streams, but can be disabled as from firmware 6.0.3.3. Edge/SIP mode: Advanced Configuration Mode required)
  • The default username and password are admin/alphaadmin''


Video Settings

The video settings



Adjust the video settings for SIP H264 and RTSP H264. HTTP MJPG settings are fixed.

  • Resolution - Sets the pixel resolution. Options are 240p, 480p, 720p and 1080p.
  • Quality - Three predefined video quality profiles. Options are Excellent, High, Good and Custom. By selecting Custom, the following settings can be adjusted:
    • Frames per second - Sets the framerate per second. Options are 5fps, 10fps, 15fps, 25fps and 30fps
    • Bitrate - Sets the bitrate which will be used in video stream. Options are 128, 300, 500, 1000, 1500, 2500, 5000 and 7000kb/s

Image settings

Adjust the camera colors and view angle.

  • Rotation - The image can be rotated 90, 180 or 270 degrees (from firmware 6.1.3.0)
  • Brightness - This parameter sets the brightness of the video image. The range is from 0 to 255. The default value is 128
  • Saturation - This parameter sets the color saturation of the video image. The range is from 0 to 255. The default value is 128.
  • Contrast - This parameter sets the contrast of the video image. The range is from 0 to 255. The default value is 128.
  • Zoom - This parameter sets the digital zoom of the video image. The zoom level range is 0.5 to 2. The default value is 1.
  • Pan/Tilt - Defines which part of the scene should be zoomed into

Advanced Video Settings

Advanced configuration options expose some audio settings and also offer the possibility to use MJPEG codec for RTSP video.

RTSP Settings

RTSP settings


  • Audio source - defines when acoustic echo canceler is applied to mic+speaker voice. With this setting, it is possible to choose whether only the microphone signal is sent to the RTSP stream or both microphone and speaker signals are sent to the RTSP stream. Options are:
    • Mic before AEC - Both microphone and speaker signals are sent out to RTSP stream
    • Mic after AEC - Only microphone signal is sent out to RTSP stream


RTSP uri generator

The RTSP uri generator allows to configure and use custom RTSP URI. The custom RTSP URI can be used in parallel with the default RTSP url, but which will have a different configuration than the default one

  • Encoder - which encoder will be used for the video stream, options are H264 and MJPEG
  • Resolution - Sets the pixel resolution, options are. Supports 240p, 480p, 720p (H264 only) and 1080p (H264 only).
  • Frames per second - sets the framerate per second. Options are 5fps, 10fps, 15fps (H264 only) , 25fps (H264 only) and 30fps (H264 only)
  • Bitrate (H264 only) - Sets the bitrate which will be used in video stream. Options are 128, 300, 500, 1000, 1500, 2500, 5000 and 7000kb/s

Click the Copy URI button to copy the generated URI.


ONVIF Settings

ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) is a global and open industry forum with the goal of facilitating the development and use of a global open standard for the interface of physical IP-based security products. ONVIF creates a standard for how IP products within video surveillance and other physical security areas can communicate with each other. Turbine TCIV+ series stations conform ONVIF Profile S device specification standard. All Video Management System software (ONVIF client) that conforms ONVIF Profile S client specification can be used for integration of video Turbines into the system. Settings defined in this section are used for such integrations.

ONVIF implementation on the Turbine TCIV+ series will provide all functionality required for being Profile S conformant.

ONVIF settings


  • Enable ONVIF Discovery Service - Enables UDP port 3702 on station firewall. Traffic to this port is used for WS-Discovery Service. If this setting is turned off, the station can not be discovered by any ONVIF client
    • ONVIF WS-Discovery Name: Sets device name for WS-Discovery that will be shown in ONVIF client after the device is found
    • ONVIF WS-Discovery Location: Sets device location for WS-Discovery that will be shown in ONVIF client after the device is found
  • Enable control of relay IDLE state- Some Security systems automatically force relay IDLE state = On, and it is not possible to configure it. If this is an undesirable scenario, this option can be disabled
  • Operate relay/outputs via ONVIF (ICX-AlphaCom mode only) - If enabled, Relay/Output can be controlled from both ICX-AlphaCom server and through ONVIF protocol so the user needs to pay attention for possible conflicts


ONVIF Media Profiles

ONVIF Media profiles control real-time video and audio streaming configurations. A media profile maps a video and audio source to a video and an audio encoder, PTZ and analytics configurations. Video turbines support only video encoder configuration which is described below. Video and audio sources cannot be configured since the device contains only one camera and microphone.

In most cases, media profiles are configured directly from Video Management System software (ONVIF client) and in that case, it is not recommended to manually change values below. The maximum number of Media Profiles which can be created is 50.

  • Choose profile to configure - contains list of all profiles (built-in profiles and profiles created by ONVIF clients) for configuration. Profiles can be added and deleted only by ONVIF clients.

Encoder - each profile should be assigned with one ONVIF video encoder configuration. Possible options are Encoder 1, Encoder 2 or Encoder not set (This option is only used in situations when VMS creates media profile without video encoder and should never be manually selected).Encoder is defined with following parameters:

  • Encoding - Defines which encoding type will be used: H264 or JPEG
  • Resolution: Sets the pixel resolution
  • Frames per second: Sets the framerate per second.
  • Bitrate: Sets the bitrate which will be used in video stream
  • Quality: Video quality parameter which is going to be used. It will have an effect for JPEG encoding only. Relative value for the quality of the video. A high value within supported quality range means higher quality
  • GovLength: Interval in which the I-frames will be coded. Valid values are from 2 to 32767. Will have effect for H264 encoding only.

Client connections limitation

Maximum of six connections to all streaming modes are possible at the same time:

  • One connection to SIP H.264 connection
  • Two connections to HTTP MJPEG
  • Three connections to RTSP. Clients can use the same URI or different URI for each connection.



Bandwidth usage

H264 mode

When video is used in H.264 mode, the allocated bandwidth per stream is defined in the web interface. Available options are 128, 300, 500, 1000 kb/s, 1500, 2500, 5000 and 7000kb/s

  • Higher resolution requires more bandwidth to show a clear picture without much pixelation. More pixels require more bandwidth.
  • Higher video bandwidth setting will reduce required compression level and pixelation on movements but will require users to have higher connection or will cause massive frame loss, interruptions and latency

MJPEG mode

In MJPG mode the bandwidth depends on the resolution, framerate, quality (compression) and the complexity of the scene. By scene complexity we mean how much activity is occurring in the scene of video that you are capturing. For instance, a person talking in front of a white wall is far less 'complex' than a crowded stadium. In general, the more color, shapes, sizes, objects and movements in a scene, the more complex that scene will be. The more complex a scene is the more bandwidth will be needed to maintain the same quality level.

The table below shows typical bandwidth usage for different settings and scene complexity:
