Note icon Make sure you are using the latest version of the IMT tool.

Discover devices

  • Start the IMT tool, and Create a new Project
  • Select File > Launch Station Wizard, which will take you throught the neccessary steps
  • Select Next to go to the Discover Stations window
  • Enter the IP address range you want to scan in the From and To fields, and click Search/Start. The IMT will now show a list of discovered devices
    • By default the IMT is using the default credentials (admin/alphaadmin) to communicate with the devices. Uncheck Use default credentials, and enter the actual credentials if default is not used.
The Discovery process will search and list all devices in the IP range specified

  • Select which stations to upgrade by checking the Select flag for individual stations, or the Select all flag for all stations
  • Next will take you to the Identify window (we skip this step now), and Next again to the Upgrade Stations window
  • Import the software image files into the IMT repository by selecting Import image... Browse to the location where the downloaded files were stored, and select Open.
Importing the software image files into the IMT repository

  • If there are multiple software images in the IMT repository, select from the dropdown menu in the Station software images panel which software image version to use
  • The Software column shows the current software version in the device, and the Target SW shows the software version after the upgrade
  • Select which devices to upgrade by Ctrl+Click (individual devices), Shift+Click (range of devices) or Ctrl+A (all devices). Selected devices are highlighted in blue color
    • Different device types (e.g. INCA and Turbine) can be updated at the same time. The Exception is Flowire, which has to be upgraded separately
  • Click the Upgrade button to initiate the upgrade process
Ready to start the upgrade process

The Status and the Upgrade colums show the upgrade process. Wait for all upgrades to complete. The status will be reported Success when a device is up and running with the new software.

Note icon Turbine notes:
  • When upgrading from version 3.1 and later, one can update directly to the final version, e.g. vsft-
  • Upgrade from version First update to sti-prod-, and finally vsft-
  • Upgrade from version or earlier: First update to tsi-, then to sti-prod-, and finally vsft-

Note icon Flowire notes:
  • Flowire units cannot be upgraded at the same time as other device types. Flowire units must be upgraded separately.
  • Flowires will be upgraded sequentially, one-by-one
  • Upgrade of a Flowire device is disabled if the device has an IP Address in the range 169.254.1.x

Note icon Turbine Video Station TCIV-x notes:

Note icon IC-Edge vs Pulse systems:
  • In an IC-Edge system the minimum firmware requirement is Turbine ver. 5.x and INCA ver. 2.10.x.x. This is a requirement for all devices in the system.
  • In a Pulse system all devices must be running Turbine firmware 4.x and/or INCA firmware 2.9.x.x (or older versions)
  • If you have Turbine device with version 5.x, or an INCA device with version 2.10 or newer (i.e. IC-Edge), and want to use them in a Pulse system, you need to downgrade the Turbine to ver. 4.11.3.x, and the INCA station to version 2.9.3.x. Use the download links in the top of this article to get the firmware, and use the procedurer described in this artivcle to perform the downgrade
