Description

The STENTOFON weather and vandal resistant IP substation is tough, durable and resilient, and designed for use in the harshest of environments. The station is typically used as a communication, information or emergency point and connects directly to the IP network making it easy to deploy – anywhere and at any distance.

Designed for CCoIP® the station offers a set of critical communication features such as integrated firewall, group call, call priority and over-ride, to name just a few. This enables you to deliver instant, efficient and secure voice and data services in an IP environment.

The station provides superb wideband audio quality. If even higher audio volume is required, it is possible to interface the unit to an external power amplifier.

The station has one relay and one logical output. These outputs can, for instance, be used to open a door through a connected relay. The operation of the outputs is programmable and controlled by the AlphaCom E exchange.

Further still, the station integrates into any AlphaCom E and upgraded AlphaCom solution, and is scalable from 2 to 1000’s of stations.

Indications

Station LED (on board and in front plate)

IP Substation Connections

Blinking at 1 second interval: Station does not have connection to the AlphaCom E exchange.
Possible reasons:

  • No connection to Ethernet
  • Wrong AlphaCom E IP address configured
  • Invalid IP address
  • No or wrong gateway to the AlphaCom E exchange

Blinking at 5 seconds interval: Station has connection to the AlphaCom E exchange, but has not been registered.
Reason:

  • Station has not been programmed in AlphaPro

No blinking
Possible reasons:

  • Station connected and registered to the AlphaCom E exchange - All OK
  • Station not powered up (if no other LEDs are active)

Status LED

  • Blinking 2 red + 1 green: Station does not have connection to the AlphaCom E exchange
  • Blinking 1 red + 2 green:Station has connection to AlphaCom E exchange, but has not been registered
  • Blinking 3 green: Station connected and registered in the AlphaCom E exchange

LAN LEDs (on LAN and AUX RJ45-jacks)

Left green LED:

  • Steady light: Ethernet connection OK
  • Blinking: Ethernet traffic
  • No light: No Ethernet connection

Right amber LED:

  • Light: 100 Mbit Ethernet connection
  • No light: 10 Mbit Ethernet connection

Connections

IP Substation Connections

There are four connectors on the IP substation board, P1-P4.

P1: RJ45 connector for LAN connection.
The station can be powered from this connection if the line supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).

P2: RJ45 connector for auxiliary LAN equipment like TV camera, PC or a second IP station.
This port has not an individual IP address or power for aux equipment.

P3: 6-pin plug-on screw terminal for external connections.
Pin 1/2: Connect 24 VDC for station power if power is not distributed via LAN. Pin 1 is positive.
Pin 3/4: Internal NO (Normal Open) relay contact for door lock control etc.
Pin 5/6: Normally connected to station loudspeaker. May be used for 16-20 ohm/2 W external loudspeaker in parallel.

P4: 6-pin plug-on screw terminal for internal connections.
Pin 1/4: Call button no. 1.
Pin 2/4: Call button no. 2 if included
Pin 3/4: Call button no. 3 if included
Pin 5/6: Station LED for call and message info.

TP1/2: Optional external audio output.
This is a 0 dB, 600 ohm balanced output for connection to a power amplifier. Note that the amplifier input MUST HAVE AN INSULATED INPUT (trafo, capacitors, etc.).

Mounting

The station mounts in the 3 Gang Flush Mount Back Box 1008098300.
