Error message:
You received an invalid certificate. Contact the server administrator or e-mail correspondent en give them the following information: Your certificate has the same serial number as another one issued by the certification authority. Collect a new certificate with a unique serial number.

Each certificate generated by one Certificate Authority (Zenitel Root CA) needs to generate a unique serial number for each certificate (one for each AlphaCom shipped)

The problem is that the certificate needs to be regenerated also if the IP address of one AlphaCom is changed (the Common Name of the Certificate).

An automatic process is implemented to generate a new serial number each time the IP address is changed. The serial number should be the mac address of the board + an increasing number for each change.

You can check the serial number by doing an ‘Examine Certificate’.

It is possible that something went wrong generating the new serial number, this will be investigated further.

The work-around is to delete the old certificate (with the same serial number) stored with your browser.

In Firefox, under Tools/Options:

  • Select the advanced tab, then the Encryption tab.
  • Press the ‘View Certificates’ Button’
  • Select the ‘Web Sites’ tab
  • Under the ‘Zenitel’ tree find the Certificate name with the same serial number (probably the previous IP address of the board). You can also examine (View) the certificate and find the one with the same serial number.
  • Delete the certificate

Reopen the https page and store the certificate.
