Use of Handset
The handset is connected to the Main Module and has a Push To Talk button (PTT). By default all calls are in loudspeaking mode. When the handset is lifted, the calls are automatically transferred to lowspeaking mode with full duplex. If you want to control the speech direction you can push the PPT button to talk, and release it to listen.
Time-out for Handset off
If the handset is unintentionally left off with no conversation in progress, the Off-hook State is terminated after a timeout. To select this feature, you use a dipswitch setting. The station goes on-hook and becomes free after 25 seconds (programmable an AlphaPro) when not in conversation.
Headset Option
It is possible to connect a headset instead of the Handset Module. Zenitel does not supply headsets. The headset should meet the following requirements:
- Microphone sensitivity: 1-10 mV/Pa
- Loudspeaker impedance: > 32 ohm
To select headset mode, you use switch setting. An activate/deactivate switch must be used for the headset.
Connection
The Handset Module is connected to the TouchLine Interface Board in the Main Module via an 8-pole connector (J4). The cable is provided with the handset.
The headset uses the same connector as the handset on the TouchLine Interface board in the Main Module. The headset must be connected via a switch.
Switches
In the CRM-IV station switch S1 no5 & no6 are related to the Handset/Headset option.
- S1 no5 Enabled = Headset option. Turns off electrically when the microphone turns on and hook-switch input is open. Hook-switch will turn headset function on and off in this mode.
- S1 no6 Enabled = Off-hook time-out. Station goes on-hook and becomes free after 25 seconds (programmable) when not in conversation.
