Call Services (Zenitel Connect)
From Zenitel Wiki

Introduction
Call Services are used to control which functions and features are available to devices and incoming connections in a Zenitel Connect system.
By assigning different Call Services to devices, IP Telephony connection and SIP trunks, administrators can restrict access to specific functionality. For example, only selected users may be allowed to open doors, transfer calls, or place calls to certain directory numbers.
A Call Service consists of one or more permissions that define which actions are permitted and, where applicable, which destination numbers can be used.
Permissions and Call Services
A Call Service is a collection of permissions assigned to devices and incoming connections.
A Permission grants access to a specific function or feature. Some permissions can be further restricted to specific directory numbers or ranges of directory numbers.
When a user attempts to invoke a feature, Zenitel Connect verifies whether the assigned Call Service includes the required permission.
Default Call Service
Zenitel Connect includes a predefined Call Service named Default.
The Default Call Service cannot be deleted and is automatically assigned to newly created devices and connections.
By default, this Call Service allows calls to any device, connection, or feature number in the system.
Creating a Call Service
To create a new Call Service:
- Navigate to Devices and Connections > Call Services
- Click Add (+).
- Enter a Name and Description
- Save the Call Service.
You can also create a new Call Service by cloning an existing one:
- Select the Call Service to copy.
- Click Clone
- Enter a new name and description.
- Save the Call Service.
This approach is useful when creating a service that only requires minor modifications to an existing configuration.
To add a permission to a Call Service, select the desired permission in the left pane and click the arrow button right arrow . The permission is added to the Call Service and appears in the right pane, where the Related To values can be configured.
Available Permissions
Permissions are grouped into the following categories:
Call To
Controls which destinations users are allowed to call.
Available permissions include:
- Any number
- Device numbers
- Broadcast numbers
- Audio message numbers
- Call queue numbers
- Trunk prefix numbers
- Directory service numbers
Door Opening
Controls whether users are allowed to activate door-opening functions.
Available permissions include:
- Incoming call from device
- Incoming call from SIP trunk
- Outgoing call to device
- Outgoing call to SIP trunk
For more information, see Door opening During Conversation.
Allow Override
Controls whether users can override an existing call state.
Available permissions include:
- When callee is busy
- When call is ringing
For more information, see Busy Override
Call Transfer
Controls which destinations users are allowed to transfer calls to.
Available permissions include:
- Any number
- Device numbers
- Broadcast numbers
- Audio message numbers
- Call queue numbers
- Trunk prefix numbers
- Directory service numbers
For more information, see Call Transfer.
Related To column
Permissions include a Related To field.
The Related To field can be used to restrict a permission to specific directory numbers or ranges of directory numbers.
Both the From and To values must be specified. To select a single number, enter the same value in both fields.
In the example below, devices assigned to the DoorOpeners Ward 2 and 3 Call Service are allowed to perform door opening when receiving calls from devices with directory numbers in the range 133-144.
| Permission example 1 |
The values are interpreted as prefixes rather than exact directory numbers. This allows permissions to be applied to groups of directory numbers without listing every individual destination.
In the example below, devices assigned to the DoorOpeners Ward 2 and 3 Call Service are allowed to perform door opening when receiving calls from devices whose directory numbers start with 1 or 2. Examples include 10, 123, 1456, 20, 234, and 2789.
| Permission example 2 |
Note: A Related To range of 1-2 does not match only directory numbers 1 and 2. It matches all directory numbers beginning with 1 or 2.
Allowed column
The Allowed column is read-only.
In current releases, all entries represent allowed permissions. The column is retained for compatibility with earlier software versions.
Assigning a Call Service to a Device
Every device is assigned a Call Service. Newly added devices are assigned the Default Call Service automatically.
To assign a different Call Service:
- Navigate to Devices and Connections > Configuration.
- Locate the device
- Select the desired value in the Call Service column.

Assigning a Call Service to an external connection
Every IP Telephony connection, SIP trunk, and ICX-AlphaCom connection is assigned a Call Service.
The assigned Call Service determines which functions and features are available to incoming calls arriving through that connection.
- Navigate to External Communication
- Select the relevant connection type
- Select the desired value in the Call Service column.
