How to Program Station Directory Number & Text

Locating Directory Number Of Your Intercom Station In AlphaPro Database

To locate the directory number of your intercom station you will need to select the User/Station icon in AlphaPro. Once you enter this section of AlphaPro you will locate your intercom station's current directory number. Select it by browsing the left hand pane of the programming screen. Once it's located, select it with your mouse by clicking on it. When selected, the details related to this directory number will be shown on the right hand side of the programming screen. You will see the directory number of the station you have selected and directly below it the display text related to it.

Note: Multiple directory numbers and changing of station text can be done one by one by simply repeating the steps explained above.

Note: You must use the hardware programming key/dongle (USB or Parallel) to see the directory numbers above physical port 36 in the left hand pane. If you don't have the programming key you will only be able to program and change the directory numbers and features related to the first 36 directory numbers/physical ports of the AlphaCom system.

Changing Current Directory Number

Now that you have selected the directory number you wish to change, you are ready to change the current directory number to the number you want for this station. Using your mouse click and highlight the complete directory number in the directory number box. Now you can enter the directory number you wish to program. Once you have entered the directory number, AlphaPro will check if the database has any issues with the new directory number. To see if the database has any issues, simply select another field, i.e. display text, station type, etc. If you get no warning messages then you may use the new directory number you have chosen, but if you get a warning message you must decide what you want to do.

Warning messages can be:

Warning, Directory Number Masking--The new directory number you are attempting to use is masking another intercom station number, and it will provide you with the first station's directory number you are masking. You can chose to ignore this message. However, if you do you may not be able to place a call to the station you are programming or the other intercom station(s) in the system. Usually you won't do this and you will want to use another directory number.

Duplicate Directory Number--The new directory number you are attempting to use is masking a feature number in the database. Feature numbers are numbers you dial to activate features such as all call/group call numbers, program channel numbers, conference numbers, etc. You must chose "yes" or "no" when you get this message. If you chose "yes" it will program your station directory number as you wish and delete the directory number on the feature and delete the feature from the database. If you chose "no" then no programming changes have been done, and your directory number box will be highlighted again for you to chose a different directory number to program.

Once you have finished changing your directory number, select "OK" on the bottom of the screen to save the change in the AlphaPro database.

Changing Station Text

You can change text by clicking your mouse in the box where the station text is located and highlighting it. You can use any combination of letters/numbers you desire when assigning text to a station directory number.

Note: It is good practice to limit the total amount of characters to 10 due to the amount of characters LCD stations can show during intercom calls.

Once you have finished changing the station text related to the station directory number, select "OK" on the bottom of the screen to save the change in the AlphaPro database.

Sending Program Changes to AlphaCom

Note: The following assumes that the user has a basic knowledge of AlphaPro.

You are now ready to send the changes you have made which can be both the station directory number(s) and the station text(s).

Click on the Start Communication Program icon. If you connect to the AlphaCom it will open a box where you will enter the correct username and password to log on and communicate with the AlphaCom audio server.

Default Username is: admin (all lower case) Default Password is: alphaadmin (all lower case)

If the username and or password has been changed, they will be different then the default ones shown above. You will then need to enter the changed username and or password.

Once you enter the correct username and password, you will be connected to the AlphaCom audio server and an additional toolbar will appear with icons that are used to send programming from AlphaPro to the AlphaCom.

If you are certain the database you are using is the same one you have used to program the AlpahCom before, select SendChg. If you are not sure and you want to make certain the entire database in AlphaPro is sent to the AlphaCom, select SendAll. If you select SendAll it will overwrite the entire database that exists in the AlphaCom so be sure this is the action you want to take. If you aren't sure and you only want to send the changes you have made, select SendChg.
