In-call Messages (Zenitel Connect)

From Zenitel Wiki

Text-based communication between an elevator intercom and an ITSV-5 operator station during an active call.

The In-call Messages feature is designed for elevator communication systems using a ZDD-1 touchscreen unit installed in the elevator car and an ITSV-5 operator station.

The feature enables communication with hearing-impaired and speech-impaired passengers by exchanging predefined text messages during an active call. This provides an alternative communication method when voice communication is not possible or practical.

The elevator communication solution includes two main features:

  • Text-based messaging between the operator and the elevator car (In-call Messages).
  • Fault Monitoring of the elevator car station.

The operator can send predefined messages such as "Do you need help?" or "Help is on the way" to the elevator car. The passenger can respond by pressing predefined Yes or No buttons on the touchscreen.

Configuration

Define Labels and Text Messages

Navigate to Features > In-call Messages.

For each message, configure:

  • Name - The text displayed on the ITSV-5 button (maximum 12 characters).
  • Text Message - The message sent to the elevator touchscreen when the button is pressed (maximum 21 characters).
Defining button labels and associated text messages.

Create Buttons on the ITSV-5

Navigate to Devices and Connections > Configuration and select the ITSV-5 operator station from the device list.

Select the Buttons icon and click (+) to add a new In-Call Button. From the drop-down list, select one of the previously defined message labels. Repeat the procedure to add additional buttons as required. The Up and Down arrow buttons can be used to rearrange the button order.

Using In-call Messages

The configured message buttons are displayed on the ITSV-5 operator screen during an active call with an elevator station.

Pressing a button sends the associated text message to the elevator touchscreen. The transmitted message is displayed at the top of the ITSV-5 screen, allowing the operator to verify which message was sent.

The transmitted text message is displayed on the ITSV-5 screen.

The passenger in the elevator car sees the message on the ZDD-1 touchscreen and can respond by pressing Yes or No. The response is displayed at the top of the ITSV-5 screen, enabling a simple two-way text dialogue between the operator and the passenger.

Fault monitoring

Zenitel Connect can report faults from the ZDD-1 elevator touchscreen to the ITSV-5 operator station. Fault notifications are delivered as voice mail messages using the built-in Voice Mail application on the ITSV-5.
