Impedance monitoring continuously measures the AC impedance of a loudspeaker line to verify the integrity of both the cabling and the connected loudspeakers. During commissioning, the amplifier records the current impedance of the circuit and continuously compares future measurements against this reference. Any significant increase or decrease in impedance indicates a potential fault, such as an open circuit, short circuit, or disconnected loudspeaker.

  • This is achieved using the EOLZ01 End-of-Line device, which is installed at the end of the loudspeaker circuit, which allows the entire loudspeaker line to be monitored and providereliable fault detection beyond simple cable continuity.
  • The EOLZ01 is a tuned load for use with the V2000 impedance monitoring surveillance function. By adding a load at the end of the speaker circuits, surveillance is achieved to the end of the line as the disconnection of the EOLZ01 causes a significant change in line impedance. Up to four EOLZ01 devices can be used on a single amplifier. The EOLZ01 device is intended to be mounted either inside a speaker enclosure, or, if space does not permit, an additional enclosure box.
Note icon Impedance monitoring can be done without an EOLZ01 device. When using no EOLZ01 devices, the system is capable of detecting 30% to 100% loss of speaker line, but it is not recommended as it is not EN54 Compliant.


Setup and Limitations

  • Maximum of 4 devices per Amplifier, however, the maximum cable length reduces as more devices (and spurs) are added (see table below).
  • Dual output mode – maximum of 2 devices per line, and the number on each line must be equal.
  • EOLZ01 must not be more than 500m away from amplifier. This distance decreases as more devices are fitted (see table below).
  • EOLZ01 devices must be fitted to the last speaker on a speaker line spur in order to detect to end of line.
  • When using dual output mode an equal number of EOLZ01 devices must be fitted to each output.
  • In dual output mode, the cable length for A and B circuits should be matched to within 10%, and should have the same number of speakers on each of the same type and power
