Group call in the Zenitel Client
Group call functionality in the Zenitel Client will work the same as on Turbine/INCA intercoms with some adjustment to better fit the Zenitel Client user interface. Currently there are 2 main ways of sending out an announcement with a Group Call in the IC-Edge & Pulse system:
1. Group Call with M key (push-to-talk)
- Press function key or DAK, or dial group call + Call
- Press M key to talk
- C or Hangup to End call
- Any station can answer a Group call (dial 99) during the Group call and after the Group call as long as the Group call answer timer has not expired.
This is the current and will stay the default behavior of Group calls on Zenitel IP Stations and Zenitel Client. |
2. Group Call with press-to-talk, release-to-hangup
- Press function key or DAK
- Talk
- Release function key or DAK to End call
- Any station can answer a Group call (dial 99) during the Group call and after the Group call as long as the Group call answer timer has not expired.
Not supported on the Zenitel Client. Supported in Turbine intercoms with DAK key Group Call configuration. |
In addition, Zenitel Client will support Group Call recall and replay functions
- A recall is a function where Group call is played from previously recorded message.
Usually, it is used to suppress echo from neighboring stations receiving Group call. - A replay is a function where Group call shall first be played to operator.
It is a handy feature to listen to the message before actually sending it out to Intercom (and IP-PA) system.
Group call with recall
Configuration
Use Recall function with Group call needs to be enabled in Settings. In addition, if Use Recall in Mini UI mode is enabled, Group call shall always be initiated with Recall function in Mini UI mode. In Full UI mode, user will have option to use standard Group call with M (PTT) or with Recall. Full UI mode will show Recall button only if this function is enabled in Settings.
Additionally, if End call after recall is enabled in options group call will end immediately after recall message has finished playing. Note that this is default behavior. If End call after recall is disabled, after recall message has finished playing, group call will remain active and will now behave as a regular group call (M key to talk).
Recall function will behave as follows:
a. Start group call (1) Dial group call + Recall, (2) Direct call in Mini UI mode, or (3) Call History Group call with recall recording
Zenitel Client shall notify user to "Press Rec to record your message"
b. Press Record button and speak message.
Zenitel Client shall notify user: "Press stop to end recording."
Message shall be recorded.
Up to 3 minutes of speech can be recorded
c. Press Stop Recording button (same as Record button with a different icon) to end Recording
d. Press Replay to listen to recorded message
Zenitel Client shall notify user to "Press Send to send a recorded message" User can press Replay many times User can press Record again
e. Press "Send message" (or Hang-up to cancel)
Actual Group call shall be dialed, message sent.
f. Hang-up
g. Any station can dial 99 to answer a Group call (if answer is enabled for that Group call) and be directly connected to Zenitel Client
If answer is made before whole message played out, message will be stopped and Zenitel Client directly connected to station that answered.
Group call fast-dial (or Group call "DAK")
Favorites should be used to fast-dial a Group call, without a recall.
Group Call and Call History
Outgoing group call will be listed in Call History panel. It will have a small "recorded" icon , so it is visually separated from other "normal" calls.
If user double-clicks such a call in History Zenitel Client will make a same Group all again, but it shall first replay the recorded message and ask user to "Send" message out.
Other UI enhancements
- Transfer function is not needed during Group Call
- Incoming Group call does not need to display in History
