Call and Function Buttons (Zenitel Connect)
From Zenitel Wiki

Introduction
Call and Function Buttons are configurable buttons available on Zenitel devices.
Depending on the device model, a device may have a single call button, such as the TCIS-3, or a large number of programmable buttons, such as an IP Flush Master equipped with DAK-48 expansion modules.
Button functionality is configured in the Zenitel Connect web interface and automatically distributed to the devices.
The behavior of a button depends on the device state:
- Idle State - the device is not participating in a call.
- In-Call State - the device is receiving a call or is already in an active conversation.
Configuring Call and Function Buttons
To configure Call and Function Buttons:
- Navigate to Devices and Connections > Configuration.
- Select one or more devices.
- Click the Buttons icon
.
The number of available buttons depends on the selected device type.
When multiple devices are selected, only buttons that are common to all selected devices are available for configuration.
Button Parameters
Each button can be configured with the following parameters:
Dial String: Specifies the number or feature code that will be dialed when the button is pressed while the device is in the Idle State.
If no dial string is configured, pressing the button in the Idle State has no effect.
Function in Idle State: This field determines the action performed when the button is pressed while the device is idle.
Currently, the only available option is:
- Call To - places a call to the configured Dial String.
Function in Call State: Defines the action performed when the button is pressed while the device is receiving a call or is already in a call.
Available options are:
- Answer/End Call - answers an incoming call or terminates an active call.
- Answer Call - answers an incoming call.
- End Call - terminates an active call.
- Do Nothing - no action is performed.
Function Activation in In-Call State: Defines when the configured In-Call function is activated:
- Key Press - the function is executed immediately when the button is pressed.
- Key Release - the function is executed when the button is released.
The Key Release option is typically used for Push-to-Talk (PTT) related functions where button press and release have different meanings.
Example
The example below shows two buttons configured on a station:
- P1 calls directory number 6701 when pressed and ends an active call.
- P2 calls directory number 6702 when pressed and can be used to answer or end calls.

Button identification
For devices with expansion modules, button identifiers in Zenitel Connect is like the following:
IP Flush Master with DAK-48 Modules
- P1 to P4: D1 - D4 on the IP Flush Master.
- E1-P1 to E1-P48: Buttons on the first DAK48 module.
- E2-P1 to E2-P48: Buttons on the second DAK48 module.
ECPIR Call Panel
- P1 to P3: Buttons on the main ECPIR panel.
- E1-P1 to E1-P8: Buttons on the first EBMDR-8 expansion module.
- E2-P1 to E2-P8: Buttons on the second EBMDR-8 expansion module.
- E3-P1 to E3-P8: Buttons on the third EBMDR-8 expansion module.
- E4-P1 to E4-P8: Buttons on the fourth EBMDR-8 expansion module.
LED operation
The call buttons on DAK-48 modules and ECPIR call panels are equipped with both a red and a green LED.
The LED behavior is fixed and requires no configuration:
- Flashing red LED: Incoming call.
- Steady green LED: Call established.
Answer incoming call
When a call is received from a directory number assigned to a button, the corresponding button flashes red.
To allow the operator to answer the call by pressing the flashing button, configure: Function in Call State = Answer Call
When the button is pressed, the incoming call is answered and the LED changes from flashing red to steady green.
