Push-to-talk (PTT) (Zenitel Connect)
From Zenitel Wiki

In a standard two-way call, Zenitel intercom devices communicate in open duplex mode, allowing natural hands-free conversation with automatic echo cancellation.
For situations where only one party should speak at a time, Zenitel native devices support Push-to-Talk (PTT). When PTT is activated, the local device temporarily switches from open duplex operation to a controlled one-way speech mode.
The PTT function is typically activated using a dedicated PTT button, the M-key on Zenitel native stations, or the * and # keys on ITSV and generic SIP devices.
Push-to-Talk Operation
Local Device Behavior
During an active call:
1. Press and hold the PTT button (or press * on an ITSV or SIP device).
- The local microphone is activated for speaking.
- The local loudspeaker is muted.
- A DTMF "*" signal is sent to the remote device.
2. Release the PTT button (or press # on an ITSV or SIP device).
- The call returns to normal open duplex operation.
- A DTMF "#" signal is sent to the remote device.
Note: Zenitel Connect relays these DTMF signals transparently between the devices participating in the call
Remote Device Behavior
Zenitel native devices respond to received DTMF signals as follows:
- Received DTMF ‘*’: The device enters Listen Mode and mutes its microphone.
- Received DTMF ‘#’: The device returns to Open Duplex operation.
While one party is holding the PTT button, the other party is automatically placed in Listen Mode, creating a half-duplex conversation.
Configuration Requirements
No additional configuration is required for Push-to-Talk operation.
The feature is available whenever at least one endpoint in the conversation is a Zenitel native device capable of interpreting and transmitting the required DTMF commands.
If neither endpoint is a Zenitel native device, Push-to-Talk functionality is not available.
