Feature: Area Code - AlphaNet
Default directory number: 54, 55
Feature number: 81
Parameter 1: 1-254 = Node number of exchange to call.
Description: Call a remote exchange within a AlphaNet. Dial the area code to get an audio connection to the other exchange. Then dial the local station or feature number in that remote exchange.

The digits dialed for this feature is not transfered to the remote exchange. This is in contrast to the Call remote station feature, which does transfer the digits to the remote exchange.

To reach a station (or feature) in a remote exchange, dial area code followed by local directory number, max. 4+4 digits. The area code is recognised locally, while the remaining dialling is forwarded to the remote exchange for interpretation. Dialling one’s own area code is allowed. This feature always establishes an audio link to the remote exchange. The initiating station becomes temporarily "local" to the remote exchange, and can basically do whatever a local station to that exchange can do. The station receives display information from the remote exchange via AlphaNet, and the connected station in the remote exchange sees this station's name.
