IP Telephony Service (Zenitel Connect Pro)
From Zenitel Wiki
IP Telephony - Principle
The IP Telephony Service enables calls between Zenitel Connect Pro (ZCP) and the public telephone network without the need of any additional hardware such as MP-114 gateways. This article describes how to configure the IP Telephony Service in the ZCP System.
Requirements
IP Telephony Service has the following requirements:
- The ZCP must have software version 1.5.0 or later (no license is required in the ZCP system for this service)
- A SIP user account from a SIP Service Provider, supporting registration
- The SIP Service provider must support at least the audio codecs G711u, G711a or G722.
- The SIP Service provider must support symmetric NAT handling
Configuration
The ZCP needs to register towards a SIP account at the SIP Service Provider. Select Device & Connections > External Communication > IP Telephony Service to access the configuration of the IP Telephony Service.
Select the icon on the top right to create a new SIP account. Enter data as described below.
IP Telephony - Configuration
Account Settings:
- Prefix - The number for dialing out. Typically digit 0. For example 04740002500, then 0 is stripped and 4740002500 is sent to SIP Service Provider.
- Name: Any descriptive text
- Public Number: The phone number related to the SIP account. The phone number is used for inwards dialing into the ZCP. The number is provided by the SIP Service provider.
- Directory Number: Incoming calls will be routed to this number. This can be an intercom station, a Call Queue number or a Voice Guided Call feature.
- Host: The host name of the Service Provider. It can be a hostname or an IP address. This information is provided by the SIP Service provider.
- Call Service: Defines the default restrictions on incoming calls. These restrictions can be be overridden for specific phone numbers defined in "Call service for Incoming Calls", see #Restrictions on incoming calls.
- SIP Authentication: Enter the Username and Password as provided by the SIP Service Provider
- SIP Transport: Choose between UDP; TCP or TLS. Check with SIP Service Provider which one to use.
- Media Codecs: Choose which audio codec to use. Check with SIP Service Provider which codec(s) are supported.
- Media Encryption: Enable or disable encryption of audio
- Status: Shows "Reachable" when communication with SIP Service Provider is OK. (The ZCP sends a SIP OPTIONS message at certain intervals to the SIP Service Provider and shows "Reachable" if a response is received)
Access Restrictions
Restrictions on incoming calls
If there shouldn't be any restrictions on which phone numbers are allowed to make incoming call to ZCP, set the Call Service = "Default".
If you want to create a "whitelist" of phone numbers that are allowed to call in from public telephone network, follow the example below.
Go to Call Services and create two new Call Services;
- NoCalls: Has no permissions whatsoever:
Call Service denying any calls
- AllowCalls: Has permissions to do calls (and optionally do Door Opening):
Call Service allowing calls
In the IP Telephony Service configuration, set the Call Service = "NoCalls". This will block for any incoming calls.
To give access to a selection of numbers, select the button "Call service for Incoming Calls", and in the window to the right define a range or individual phone numbers to be whitelisted. Assign these numbers to the Call Service "AllowCalls".
Incoming calls are allowed from phone numbers in the range 40002500 to 40002549, and for number 44556677
Restrictions on outgoing calls
To set restrictions on which users in ZCP are allowed to use the IP Telephony Service:
- Go to Call Services and create a Call Service NoPhoneCalls
- Configure the permissions to:
- Allow "Calls to any number"
- Deny "Calls to trunk prefix numbers"
Call Service allowing internal calls, but not calls to IP Telephone Service
In the Devices and Connections > Configuration, assign the "NoPhoneCalls" Call Service to users that should be denied access to the IP Telephony Service.
Call Button configuration
Configure call button or DAK key (Direct Access Key) with the prefix + phone number in one sequence without space. E.g. 076543210
Call Buttons configured to dial a phone number
Limitations
IP Telephony Service has the following limitations:
- A maximum of two calls can be initiated and active over IP Telephony service at the same time
- A maximum time for ringing is xx minutes
