Fault Monitoring (Zenitel Connect)

From Zenitel Wiki

Zenitel Connect can report system faults to a designated ITSV-4 or ITSV-5 device. Fault notifications are delivered as voice mail messages using the built-in Voice Mail application on the ITSV unit.

Fault Monitoring allows operators to receive and acknowledge faults directly from the ITSV device without requiring access to the Zenitel Connect web interface.

Configuration

Navigate to Devices and Connections > Configuration and select the desired ITSV-4 or ITSV-5 device from the device list.

Note icon Only ITSV-4 and ITSV-5 devices can be configured as fault monitoring receivers.

Click the Fault Monitoring icon to open the configuration pane. In the configuration pane, select which devices should be monitored by moving them from the Available Devices list to the Monitored Devices list.

Receiving Fault Notifications

When Zenitel Connect detects a fault on one of the monitored devices, a voice mail message is automatically generated and delivered to the designated ITSV device.

A new voice mail notification is indicated by:

  • A short notification tone.
  • Flashing red Message Waiting lamp on the upper-right corner of the ITSV unit.
  • A voice mail notification icon

Reviewing and Acknowledging Faults

Open the Voice Mail application by pressing the dedicated Voice Mail icon.

The Fault Status box provides a summary of the current fault status. In the example below, there is 1 acknowledged fault and 2 unacknowledged faults. The number on the left indicates acknowledged faults, while the number on the right indicates unacknowledged faults.

When the fault details are displayed, the operator can use the following keypad commands:

  • 7 – Previous fault
  • 8 – Acknowledge fault
  • 9 – Next fault

Acknowledging a fault from the ITSV device has the same effect as acknowledging it from the Zenitel Connect Fault Management page. If the fault is still active, it will remain in the list until the condition has been corrected.

Voice Mail Notification

The current fault status can also be viewed from the Android notification panel by swiping down from the top of the ITSV touchscreen.

The Voice Mail notification displays the number of acknowledged faults (Normal) and unacknowledged faults (Urgent).
