Licensing (Zenitel Connect)

From Zenitel Wiki

Introduction

Zenitel Connect uses a flexible licensing model where licenses are required for connected devices and certain optional features.

For smaller installations, Zenitel Connect can also operate in Zenitel Connect Essential mode, which allows limited operation without purchased licenses. See: Zenitel Connect Essential.

License Overview

Depending on the system configuration, licenses may be required for:

  • Connected IP devices
  • SIP trunks
  • Integrations
  • Audio Analytics

License Compliance

Zenitel Connect continuously validates the system configuration against the installed licenses.

During commissioning, devices and features may be added and tested during the free license period.

Once the system is licensed, additional devices or features can only be configured if sufficient licenses are available.

If additional capacity is required, corresponding licenses must be added.

Installing licenses

  1. When Zenitel receives an order for Zenitel Connect, a Product Key will be sent by e-mail in return.
  2. Download the Fingerprint File of Zenitel Connect on which licenses are to be installed. Select the tile Licenses in the System section.
  3. Log on to the licensing portal web page IC Asset Management System (AMS).
  4. In the AMS, under the Product Key section, identify the product key received from Zenitel, and assign an "End Customer" from the dropdown list in the rightmost column.
  5. If the end customer is not in the list, select Add New End Customer under the End Customers section, then assign the End Customer to the product key.
  6. Select an end customer from the list of End Customers, and select Create Site Node. You are now prompted to upload the Fingerprint File which was retrieved from Zenitel Connect.
  7. When the Site Node is created, click on this node. Select Add Licenses and enter the quantity required from the licenses available, then Add License
  8. You can now download a License File, or copy the license text.
  9. In the Web interface of Zenitel Connect, go to System -> Licenses, and Upload the license file by either drag & drop, or Click to select file.

Free License Period

All new Zenitel Connect installations start with a 60-day free license period.

During this period:

  • All functionality is available.
  • No licenses are required.
  • The system can be fully configured and tested.

When the free license period expires:

  • Systems that comply with the limits of Zenitel Connect Essential automatically continue operating in Essential mode.
  • Systems exceeding the Essential limits require valid licenses for continued operation.

Expired Trial Period Without Licenses

If the free license period expires and the system is neither covered by Zenitel Connect Essential nor by installed licenses:

  • Devices will go offline.
  • Calls and communication services will stop functioning.
  • Access to the web interface remains available.
  • The complete system configuration is retained.

After valid licenses are installed, normal operation resumes automatically. No reconfiguration is required.
