Release info

Name: VSF-Turbine
Description: VSF-Turbine is a firmware archive for Zenitel devices based on the IMX28 processor.

The firmware is delivered in two different ZIP archives and one swu file:

  • vsft-6.4.x.x - Used for standard in-field upgrades
  • vsft-prod-6.4.x.x - Used in production- and recovery upgrades

Version: vsft-6.4.3.9
Date: 27.05.2022
Status: General Availability Compatibility: Pulse to IC-EDGE System
You can upgrade from Pulse (VS-IS 4.x) to IC-EDGE, but the whole system needs to run with the same Turbine software (VS-IS 5/6).
In an IC-EDGE System, INCA intercoms cannot be used as the Edge Controller.
TCIV video intercoms should not be used as the Edge Controller for systems exceeding 4 devices.
IMT 1.5 or newer can be used for station discovery and upgrade but must not be used to configure IC-EDGE.
Pulse to IC-EDGE Licenses
Pulse licenses will be honored in an IC-EGDE System. This means that when you upgrade firmware from VS-IS 4.x to 5.x/6.x your Pulse licenses will work for IC-EDGE.

Note icon The number of free VS station licenses has been increased from 16 to 32 in IC-EDGE. This means that you get an additional 16 VS stations to connect to in IC-EDGE

Note icon Both Multisite Trunking and VS-Client are free of charge in IC-EDGE

MTN-3782 Line out volume control not working

The line out volume is now changeable. You can now use feature 116/4 & 116/5 to control the volume for the conference mixer in ICX-AlphaCom.

MTN-3482 TFTP provisioning does not update conv_time and ring_time

This is fixed, and conv_time and ring_time in the .cfg file is now applied to the devices with TFTP provisioning.

VSF-TURBINE 6.4.3.6

Fixed Issues - Turbine Intercom

MTN-3689 Using headset on TFIE/TKIE stations - Too low maximum volume in very noisy environments

Increased the Headset loudspeaker gain with +9 dB for all configurable levels 1-8.

  • Note 1: Max volume is now at or just above clipping level for powerful input signals
  • Note 2: This will effectively change active gain on headsets in deployed systems when upgrading.

MTN-3667 Using headset on TFIE/TKIE stations - Unreliable switching between open mic and handset mic.

Improved mic switching process in hardware codec to be robust in always succeed with switching.

VSF-TURBINE 6.4.3.3

Fixed Issues - Turbine Intercom

MTN-3598 Entering the Group Calls menu in Edge Configuration does no longer crash the device web

Entering the Group Calls menu on some devices in Edge Configuration, crashed the device web. This issue is now fixed.

VSF-TURBINE 6.4.3.2

MTN-3509 Solves an ONVIF deamon stability issue caused by memory handling

VSF-TURBINE 6.4.3.1

Fixed Issues - Turbine Intercom

MTN-3502 Production failed with new software

A small update was needed to be able to install the software on the PCBs in production.

VSF-TURBINE 6.4.3.0

New Features - Turbine Intercom

DRES-26 ONVIF profile S support for non-video VSF-Turbine devices, amplifiers excluded

The devices now have ONVIF profile S support and capabilities similar to video devices. Device is not listed as ONVIF conformant as that is only possible for real video devices. Device is streaming video that shows JPEG Zenitel logo of Zenitel using 1 FPS to provide compatibility with various VMS systems. Maximum RTSP stream count for non-video devices is now 1 microphone audio, 1 JPEG video and 1 backchannel audio. RTSP PLAY should respond with 453 Not Enough Bandwith if that limit is breached. Device is using port 8095 for ONVIF . HTTP tunneling is currently done over RTSP port 554.

Report DAK as Digital Input is currently not supported for this platform.

DRES-43 ONVIF audio backchannel

All devices which support ONVIF, with the exception of TCIV, now support the ONVIF audio backchannel. This enables the ONVIF VMS client to send audio to the Zenitel IP device.

DRES-5 Call statuses reported as DeviceIO in ONVIF

Devices now support reporting the following states as input signals through DeviceIO in ONVIF:

  • In Conversation
  • Ringing (outgoing and incoming)
  • In call queue (ICX-AlphaCom mode only)

This behavior is disabled by default and needs to be enabled through device web first.

Improvements - Turbine Intercom

MTN-3406 Extended TFTP provisioning

DAVC (Distributed Automatic Volume Control) and Multicast Paging can now be configured with TFTP Provisioning. Note that this do not cover the amplifiers.

DRES-147 Changed RTSP server implementation for non-video devices

RTSP server used now is GStreamer RTSP server which should also solve various incompatibilities with RTSP clients.

DRES-68 Exigo mode removed from device web

The Exigo mode option is removed from the main setting on device web. If the device is upgraded in Exigo mode, it will still stay in Exigo mode. But it cannot change back to Exigo mode after another mode has been selected and applied on the device web.

Fixed Issues - Turbine Intercom

MTN-3475 X-Zenitel-License-Request header is now removed when device is in SIP mode

This header was not necessary in SIP mode and it could cause incompatibilities with some 3rd party SIP systems.

MTN-3456 Headset mic gain on Turbine devices (TFIE, TKIE, TFIX) not adjustable and too low

Fixed applying gain on correct audio channel in Hardware codec and gain should be according to calibrated levels for "AKABEL Headset". Note! If old config level is high before update, significant change in level my be effectuated, and high signal level to Far-End can be observed (also making some Far-End getting issues with echo cancellation).

MTN-3454 RecoveryOS now boots successfully on devices that were produced before 2018

Not enough space on recovery partition prevented RecoveryOS from booting. Problem was specific to devices that were produced before 2018. After fixes device boots as it should.

MTN-3450 Tone selection parameter is now available in TFTP provisioning

It was not possible to select set tone selection parameter for the tone test in TFTP provisioning. This is now solved, parameter is called tone_selection.

Additionally, parameters volume, test_auto, test_db_diff, test_min_db_diff are obsolete from 6.1.3.0, and therefore removed from TFTP provisioning parameters.

MTN-3445 In redundant ICX systems, active configured volume may be replaced with AlphaPro line config

For amplifiers (ENA2100, ENA2200 AC, ENA2400 AC/DC) the device shall disregard the config set in AlphaPro, and only use config in local device Web. On re-registration active volume would be updated from Alphapro config, and customers experienced a sudden gain change. This is now corrected, and device ignore the config set in AlphaPro.

MTN-3428 ECPIR-3P can now be factory reset from DAK or PTT button

MTN-3423 Tone volume -1 disables tone

On web interface for Tone volume, value -1 would not mute tones as intended, it would play it at -1 dBFS instead. This is now fixed, and value -1 mutes tones.

MTN-3415 Factory defaulting a device sometimes required 2 boots

A device would sometimes require 2 boots after factory defaulting. This is now fixed, and only one boot is required after factory defaulting.

MTN-3383 Audio broken when receiving RTP packets with more then 20 ms of audio in packet

Now all devices support receiving audio packets in range from 10 to 80 ms. Note that audio in packets still needs to be in real number of 10 ms audio frames.

MTN-3333 GPIO configuration change doesn't cause reboot loop anymore

Fixed issue where changing relay mode configuration in Onvif Device Manager would cause device to go in reboot loop.

Known Issues

MTN-3299 TLS Private Keys not restored on Turbine stations

In case that TLS Private Keys are deleted from Turbine station, the only way to restore them is to manually upload them to the station. Factory reset or station upgrade will not restore TLS Private Keys.

MTN-2692 Turbine stations won't register to ICX500 or Alphacom if the dash symbol is not removed from the Directory Number field.

In an unconfigured Turbine station there is a dash character in the Directory Number field in the "Main Settings menu. This dash symbol must be removed when the directory number is entered, else the station will fail to register.

MTN-2686 Outputs not working for Exigo amplifiers in SIP mode

GPO's does not work when exigo amplifiers are in SIP mode.

MTN-2363 Factory reset does not delete uploaded Script

All uploaded scripts should also be removed on Factory reset

MTN-2362 H.264 RTSP stream in UDP mode can display small artifacts at the bottom of the stream

H.264 RTSP stream in UDP mode can display small artifacts at the bottom of the stream.

MTN-2361 TCIV H264 stream does not work in Honeywell Maxpro NVR

RTSP H.264 does not work in Honeywell Maxpro NVR, workaround is to use MJPEG RTSP stream

MTN-2360 Client side forwarding does not work in SIP mode

Client side forwarding, which can be configured as a DAK action or activated from INCA display menu, does not work in SIP mode. Workaround is to use SIP server side forwarding.

MTN-2359 Stream is not always established in Pelco VideoExpert VMS version 3.0 or newer

Stream is not always established in Pelco VideoExpert VMS version 3.0 or newer, workaround is to follow all the steps described here https://wiki.zenitel.com/wiki/Adding_TCIV_ONVIF_camera_to_Pelco_VideoXpert_Professional when adding TCIV station to Pelco VideoExpert

MTN-2358 Making a point-to-point call during High priority Group call will drop group call audio.

When 2 stations establish a point-to-point call during High priority Group call, they will no longer receive audio from current High priority group call.

MTN-2356 SNMP not working properly on TCIV under high CPU load

SNMP is not working properly on TCIV under high CPU load, which means that SNMP traps and inform messages can be sent with delay, or not be sent at all. This only happens if TCIV is placed under very high load, under normal operating conditions SNMP function without any issues.

MTN-2339 Group call chime is not played on 3rd party SIP stations

Group call chime (WAV file) is not played on third party SIP devices when Group Call is set over multicast IP address.

MTN-2220 Default SNMP settings issue with firmware downgrade to 4.9

When downgrading from VSFT 4.11+ to 4.9 a factory reset is necessary if user wants to use default SNMP configuration. For custom snmp.conf file, re-upload with a custom snmp.conf file will fix the problem.

MTN-1073 Group call fails if system previously configured with ZAP

If system was configured with ZAP (VS-IMT Pulse SDK project) and then switched to XML configuration by deleting data.lua file, it is possible that Group Calls shall not work. A workaround is that (1) data.lua file is deleted from all stations including Pulse server - this will reboot stations, and (2) after reboot go to Server configuration -> Save + Apply - this will again reboot all stations.

DRES-152 Downgrading IP_LCM from vsft-6.4.3.0 will cause a reboot loop

If downgrading the IP_LCM from vsft-6.4.3.0 to an earlier version, the IP_LCM will go into a reboot loop. Workaround is to factory reset the IP_LCM just after downgrading.
